Concentrated photovoltaics (CPV)

High efficiency solar cells on germanium also have an application in terrestrial photovoltaics, where cells are integrated in a concentrator system based on refractive or reflective optics.

Under concentration, the most advanced solar cells on germanium have a conversion efficiency of over 40% and pave the way for cost effective and sustainable energy generation. Umicore produces CPV wafers in different diameters up to 150 mm in production quantities.
