What you will be doing

As Quality and Operational excellence manager, you will have the overall responsibility to meet product and system quality requirements within Umicore Infrared group (UIRG) and lead the operational excellence program that will enable the Business Line to reach its operational goals on:

 

Operational excellence

  • Responsible of excellence in the industrial operations of UIRG
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to maximize yields from UIRG processes and reduce manufacturing errors towards improving production efficiency and effectiveness

Quality

  • Create and manage the Quality Culture within UIRG, enabling growth in line with its ambitious growth plans and increase revenue and profitability
  • Take up leadership over Management of Change program. Roll out through best practices and procedures in UCS ISO system
  • Coordinate and ensure global approach and continuous improvement of management systems ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 along with operational quality and environmental programs
  • Manage quality issues directly with customers and suppliers/subcontractors, while providing technical support to the coating department and implementation of improved processes and procedures
  • Ensure alignment between affiliates on product specifications and quality standards while incorporating feedback from sales and product managers

Safety

  • Responsible for safety of his personnel
  • Animate safety within the quality team and ensure safety is part of all quality initiatives/program
  • Provide the operational teams with the right continuous improvements tools to learn on safety
  • Build a safety action plan for quality department and implement it

 

We are looking for a colleague with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Quality or Environmental System Management or a related field with a solid focus on Quality Management.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in an industrial setting with a strong focus on quality management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in ISO9001 and ISO14001 systems along with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience. (green belt / black belt)
  • Experience in automotive and with automotive quality requirements and standards with IATF 16949 certification system. 
  • Solid English level (Spoken and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Demonstrated ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
